With immense pleasure I welcome you to the UPES Law Blog! This is the official blog of the School of Law at UPES Dehradun. This blog has been curated with a vision to create a space for the exchange of interdisciplinary ideas and expression of thoughts.
Law is no longer static. It is interacting directly with the community and ecosystem of stakeholders, beneficiaries, decision-makers and the vulnerable. Law breathes, evolves and responds too but it responds evidently when the community and ecosystems take a strong cognizance of its transformative potentials. As a community of academicians, we take due note of this. We also understand the perils of not doing so or taking the transformative potentials at their face value. With rapidly revolutionising technology, ever evolving logic of the market and the inevitable need for elevating suffering, there are some urgent questions that we face. This blog attempts to address the same, as we present an array of blogs on issues like the possibility of an All India Judiciary Examination, the debates relating to the recently passed Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Amendment Act, 2026, the IPR issues pertaining to usage of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the question of labour with respect to under-age individuals in social media work.
Through this blog our faculty members showcase their expertise across constitutional law, criminal law, corporate law, international law, and specialized domains like energy, infrastructure, and technology laws where UPES Dehradun has a distinct strength. Our guest entry gives a crisp philosophical commentary on the evolution of international law as a discipline. As a collective, the launch issue drives us towards a cognitive churning.
We aim to nurture this space as a robust, inclusive and dynamic platform for faculties, students and practitioners across the globe in diverse disciplines. Whether it is a critical analysis of a recent Supreme Court judgment, a reflection on legislative reform, a comparative perspective on global trends, or an original take on an emerging area of law and policy, we invite everyone who wishes to engage with a well-reasoned opinion to contribute to this blog. Through short, accessible, and timely pieces, the contributions will contribute to public discourse and bridge the gap between academia and practice.
