Submission

The UPES Law Blog is an academic and professional platform for accessible, concise, and analytically rigorous writing on contemporary issues in law, policy, governance, regulation, and justice. We welcome contributions from students, academics, researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and members of civil society.

Categories of Contributions

  • Case Comments: Analysis of recent judicial or tribunal decisions (800–1,200 words)
  • Legislative and Policy Analysis: Critical examination of recent laws, regulations, policies, or government initiatives (800–1,500 words)
  • Research-Based Posts: Insights from ongoing or recently completed research (1,000–1,500 words)
  • Opinion and Perspective Pieces: Evidence-based viewpoints on contemporary legal issues (800–1,200 words)
  • Book and Article Reviews: Analytical reviews of books, reports, articles, or other significant publications (800–1,000 words)
  • Interviews: Conversations with scholars, judges, practitioners, regulators, policymakers, and industry experts (flexible word limit)

Submission Guidelines

  • Submissions must be original, unpublished, and written in English.
  • Disclose any simultaneous submission to another publication.
  • Present a clear, coherent, and well-supported argument.
  • Offer analysis and original insight rather than mere description or unsupported opinion.
  • Use clear, concise, and accessible language, explaining technical concepts where necessary.
  • Engage with relevant legal authorities, scholarship, and reliable evidence.
  • Properly attribute all sources. Hyperlinks embedded in the text are preferred over footnotes.

Plagiarism, including self-plagiarism, will result in immediate rejection. Purely promotional or unsubstantiated submissions will not be considered.

Formatting and Author Details

  • Submissions should be made in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format.
  • Have a concise and informative title.
  • Use headings and subheadings where appropriate.
  • Begin with a short paragraph summarising the core argument.
  • Each submission must include:
    • Author’s full name, institutional affiliation, designation or year of study, and email address
    • LinkedIn profile or professional webpage, if available
    • A biography of 50–100 words
    • A summary of 50–75 words highlighting the central argument
    • Three to five relevant keywords
    • The file must be named: [Title of Blog Post] – [Author Name]

AI Usage Policy

AI tools may be used only for grammar correction, language refinement, readability, and formatting. They must not be used to generate substantive content, legal arguments, analysis, research findings, conclusions, or substantial portions of a manuscript.

The Editorial Board reserves the right to reject any submission that violates this policy.

Submission and Review

Submissions must be made through the MS Form; fill out the form by clicking here.

The Editorial Board will endeavour to communicate its decision within two to three weeks.

Authors may republish accepted work elsewhere with prior permission from the Editorial Board.
